Leap Wallet recovery guide

Lost access to your Leap Wallet? You can restore your full balance and account history with your 12 or 24-word recovery phrase. The recovery process is the same whether you are using the browser extension, the mobile app, or moving to a brand-new device.

How to restore Leap Wallet from a seed phrase

Have your recovery phrase ready before you start. Type the words exactly in order, with no extra spaces and all lowercase.

  1. Open the recovery flow

    Go to the Leap Wallet connect page and choose “Use an existing wallet”. You can also click the button at the bottom of this guide to jump straight there.

  2. Pick recovery phrase

    Select the seed phrase option. Leap supports both 12-word and 24-word phrases. Make sure no one is looking over your shoulder before you continue.

  3. Enter the words in order

    Type each word in the exact order from your backup. The recovery box will mark a word red if it is misspelled or not part of the BIP-39 list, so you can catch typos right away.

  4. Set a new password

    Choose a strong password for this device. The password only protects this installation — your recovery phrase is what actually controls the wallet on every device.

  5. Pick the accounts to restore

    Leap will derive your Cosmos, EVM, and Bitcoin accounts from the phrase. Select the accounts you want to bring back, then finish setup.

  6. Confirm your balance

    Open the dashboard and check that your tokens, NFTs, and staking positions are visible. If you do not see something, give the wallet a minute to sync, then refresh.

No. The recovery phrase is the only key to your wallet — Leap is non-custodial, so there is no support team that can restore an account without it. If you only have a private key for one account, you can import that single account, but you cannot rebuild the full wallet.
